The University of Muhammadiyah in North Maluku (UMMU) is a private university founded under the charitable auspices of the Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah. UMMU’s vision is to be a major university focusing on the development of science and technology within a religious framework.

CCCS and UMMU’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences began a collaborative relationship in 2013 upon the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation. Since then, various faculty have been engaged with CCCS conducting fieldwork on Halmahera in North Maluku for a project client where we have been working on Indigenous Peoples initiatives.
